Calcium Hydroxylapatite Radiesse® is an injectable substance that, once it has been introduced into the dermis, stimulates the production of collagen and elastin.
It was originally developed to be used as a volumising filler on the face. However, it has now been adapted to be used off the face. One of the first places off the face it was used was the back of the hands where it is usually diluted down to make it slightly softer in a one to one dilution with sterile water. The RadiesseR is introduced under the dermis with a canula, which reduces bruising. Over the next few weeks, it stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin. The full effect is seen at 4-8 weeks and the treatment can be repeated then.
Radiesse® can also be used in other parts of the body such as the chest, abdomen, thighs, knees, neck and inner arms to stimulate collagen and elastin production. At these sites it is usually used diluted at a ratio of 1ml of diluted with up to 9ml of sterile saline. This is also introduced with a cannula for safety and to reduce bruising. The full effect is seen at 4-8 weeks. At these sites, because of the production of elastin, there is also a tightening effect on the skin.
This treatment can be done in conjunction and works very well with other devices to tighten the skin e.g. Sofwave and Fotona Honeycomb T runner.
