GP and Self Referrals

We are happy to accept telephone bookings from anyone wishing to refer themselves or a family member with a skin problem and we do not require a General Practitioner’s referral letter. However, a referral letter from a General Practitioner can be very helpful.
In keeping with the General Medical Council Guidelines, it is good practice for us to inform your GP of any diagnosis or treatment plan we make regarding your medical skin issues. For medical skin problems we therefore routinely keep your GP informed, but would respect your wishes if you request that we do not do so. If you have private medical insurance and are being seen for a medical skin problem, your insurance company will usually require you to have a referral letter from your General Practitioner.
