This new laser delivers bursts of energy that are the fastest laser pulses used in dermatology.
A picosecond is one trillionth of a second. In other words, a picosecond is to one second what one second is to approximately 31,000 years! Because the pulse is so fast, it does not cause significant heating of the skin but instead puts superfast pulses of energy under the skin to stimulate production of new collagen and elastin.
Because it does not add significant heat to the skin, there is no need for numbing cream and it is not painful, feeling a little like hot flicks on the skin.
The results are tighter pores, improvement of wrinkles and scars, and improved elasticity of the skin. The Picoway laser can also be used to treat increased pigmentation.
The skin looks, at most, slightly pink for a few hours or days, but there is no swelling and you can wear make-up and do everyday activities straight away.
